Context
The original idea was an online supermarket-style service for everyday essentials such as bread, milk, nappies, medicine cabinet items, pet food and household products, delivered fast in the local area. Rather than another faceless delivery app, the concept focused on local trust: customers know who is shopping for them, get updates during the shop and receive delivery from real people in their area. The platform was shaped around Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and nearby regions, with room to expand.
Challenge
The concept needed to turn a broad convenience idea into a believable digital platform. It had to explain the service in seconds, feel more personal than large delivery apps, organise products clearly, handle substitutions and urgent needs, support vulnerable customers and elderly relatives, recruit local shoppers and stretch beyond groceries into useful local runs.
Approach
The platform was shaped around a simple promise: a trusted local shopper collects from nearby shops and delivers everyday essentials fast. The direction covered a clear homepage, product categories, emergency bundles, shopper trust and identity, transparent pricing, live shopper communication, care runs, local errands, a shopper recruitment journey and a service area across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and nearby regions.
Key decisions
- Make the shopper personal, not an anonymous courier
- Focus on urgent everyday needs people actually run out of
- Use emergency bundles like Baby Run, Sick Day and Late-Night Rescue
- Build trust early with named shoppers, receipt proof and live updates
- Extend the platform into Care-Runs for elderly and vulnerable customers
- Add Local Runs for parcel drops, pharmacy runs and small errands
- Stay local-first by using nearby supermarkets and shops, not warehouses
