How Mukoko Studio builds in 2026
A short, honest note on how the studio actually works: how engagements begin, what a private build looks like week to week, and why the studio stays deliberately small.
The studio is founder-led and deliberately small. Every engagement is led personally by Taz Mukoko and delivered alongside a tight circle of trusted strategists, designers and engineers. That is the whole team. There is no account director layer, no agency machine and no attempt to look bigger than we are.
Engagements start in one of two ways#
Either a written enquiry through the site, which is read within a working day, or a private introduction from an existing client or adviser. Both routes lead to the same first step: a short, private conversation to understand the situation properly before anything is proposed.
If the fit is right, the studio issues a written proposal with a scope, a timeline and a fixed starting price. If the fit is not right, we say so, and where possible point to someone better suited. Serious clients tend to respect the second answer as much as the first.
Once a project is agreed, the working rhythm is quiet and predictable. A short weekly note by email covering what has been done, what is next, and any decision the client needs to make. A private review environment where the client and their advisers can see the work in progress at any time. Direct access to Taz for anything that needs a real conversation. No slide decks, no status meetings that could have been an email.
The stack is modern and boring on purpose#
Well-supported frameworks, clear code, sensible hosting, standard accessibility and SEO practice, and an AI layer only where it is genuinely useful. Nothing exotic that a future team would struggle to maintain.
Handover is treated as part of the work, not an afterthought. Every project ends with a short written record of the decisions taken, an owner-friendly walkthrough of how to maintain what has been built, and a private commitment to be available for questions after launch. Ongoing work is offered as a Studio Partner retainer, but it is never assumed.
What has not changed in 2026, and will not, is the way engagements are held. Privately by default. Small enough to stay close to the work. Slow enough to make good decisions. That is the whole method, and it is intentional.
